Most importantly, it has an impressive appearance, yo. Actually, there is one interesting point - these apparently had an E-brake that worked on all wheels. What.

Yeah but the handbrake only worked as well as the foot brake then.

A thing not available on the Titan XD I guess. Weird. (the axle, not the V8)

Well, it depends. Kind of looks like it might have been cable, which... four cables, one to each wheel is kind of wild and probably hard to operate, but if you’ve got a line failure, that’s a heck of a backup. Almost like an A10’s cable over hydraulics stick system.

The truth.

That was the joke... the handbrake pulls on the same cables as the pedal. Actually that probably makes the hand brake more effective due to more leverage (but your arm would have to be as strong as your legs?)

Ah, right, I was for some reason thinking that the pure mechanical brakes had gone away for some applications by that point and the cables might be distinct. I knew at least some Ford trucks were still mechanical, since that rear axle is used on a Universal Carrier... Honestly, other than expense, there’s something to be said for a four-wheel parking brake, though.

This is what we’re going to haul around all those French car parts in.

It’s not obvious, but Ford Flathead V8s aren’t really all that big. The 60hp version was a 136ci - 2.2L. 27hp/L is actually quite reasonable for a 1938 engine.

My how the times have changed. The fact that 60hp base and 85hp optional engines was worthy of marketing copy back then ... Wow.

This guys either really small, or they didn’t draw to scale. Otherwise this truck would be over 6’ tall.
